Our Willagee renovation project reimagines a modest suburban home through a careful balance of restoration and contemporary intervention, celebrating the character of the original house while introducing a richer, more tactile domestic experience.
Rather than erasing what existed, the design builds upon the home's enduring qualities. Original Jarrah flooring is retained and restored, while a restrained palette of limewashed walls, textured glass and natural materials creates a calm backdrop for everyday life. Moments of colour are introduced through deep burgundy joinery and richly veined stone, bringing warmth and identity to key spaces throughout the home.
A series of carefully considered insertions improve the home's functionality without compromising its scale or familiarity. Layered thresholds, filtered light and framed garden views create a sense of privacy and quiet, while bespoke detailing gives each room its own distinct atmosphere.
The result is a renovation that feels both familiar and unexpected, respecting the home's history while creating a contemporary interior defined by materiality, craftsmanship and enduring simplicity.
