Ma Mooneys Kitchen

Osborne Park, Western Australia

A002514

A considered revitalization of a community favourite. Drawing inspiration from nostalgic listening bars and classic cafeteria design, this fit-out utilizes cork, timber, and abundant natural light to create a space that is equal parts fresh and familiar. A warm, textural homage to good food and good company.

The design language is a study in considered nostalgia. We leaned into tactile materials to create warmth, utilizing full-height cork wall paneling and rich, dark timber wainscoting to ground the space. The listening corner, complete with vinyl display shelving and a turntable, anchors the room, inviting patrons to slow down and stay a while. By pairing Thonet-style bentwood seating with tiled checkerboard tabletops, we balanced retro cues with modern precision. The result is a sun-drenched, verdant sanctuary that honours the kitchen's legacy while welcoming its future.

We offer deep respect to the traditional custodians of this land and honour their ancestors who have nurtured and cared for this country for thousands of years. We pay homage to the living cultures, languages, and knowledge systems of the Noongar, Wurundjeri and all Indigenous Australian peoples.
