The Guilderton Commercial Precinct concept proposes a new architectural landscape for one of WA’s unique coastal towns a place where community life, local business, and environmental character converge. Archive Office has developed a precinct-wide vision that prioritises craft, durability, and the functional simplicity of working buildings.
Guided by the material language of the region, the proposal introduces a series of structures defined by concrete, blockwork, fibre cement cladding, timber, and soft white powdercoat elements. These materials anchor the precinct in its coastal setting, offering longevity and low-maintenance performance suited to the environment.
The design strategy focuses on clear circulation, considered massing, and flexible commercial tenancies that support local operators while enhancing town amenity. Landscape zones soften the built form, reinforcing the connection between the precinct, the river, and the surrounding bushland.
Through early collaboration with stakeholders, the concept balances practical constraints with architectural clarity delivering a vision that is commercially viable, distinctly local, and built to evolve with the community over time.
