Archive Office, working alongside Grotto Studio, has been engaged to develop a schematic proposal for the new Coffs Harbour Yacht Club.
This project is set against the stunning backdrop of Coffs Harbour, aiming to enhance the maritime experience while respecting the rich nautical heritage of the area.
The design of the new yacht club is informed by its magnificent harbourside location, integrating seamlessly with the dynamic interplay of land and sea. The schematic focuses on creating spaces that are not only functional for all club activities but also provide a welcoming environment for multiple generations to gather and share in the unique experiences offered by the yacht setting.
Utilizing natural materials and a design ethos that echoes the spirit of the Coffs Harbour community and its seaside context, the new club will serve as a central hub for social and sailing activities. The design includes various amenities such as expanded boat storage, a state-of-the-art marine repair shop, and enhanced communal areas like a members’ lounge and a restaurant with ocean views.
Every aspect of the yacht club's design, from the strategic use of robust materials like timber and steel to the thoughtful integration of indoor and outdoor spaces, is crafted to ensure durability and beauty, reinforcing the yacht club's role as a landmark of maritime excellence in Northern NSW. This proposal aims to redefine the yacht club experience, emphasising community, connectivity, and the timeless allure of the sea.
