Bardo, York WA
Bardo is a considered transformation of a restored 1887 heritage building in the heart of York. Once a boot maker’s emporium into a coffee lounge, wine bar and studio space. Led by owners deeply invested in creating something meaningful for regional WA, the project is grounded in connection, creativity and experience.
Archive Office’s role focused on guiding the process through material selection and spatial planning. The design explores how a simple, efficient fitout can shape identity, flow and atmosphere, supporting both front-of-house experience and back-of-house function. A restrained, thoughtful approach allows the character of the existing building to remain central, while enabling a new layer of life within.
